Windows Media Player 10 is an older version of Microsoft's media player software, dating back to 2006. If you're looking to install WMP10 on your company's computers, you'll need to download the installer software. Because of its age, this software may not run properly on 32-bit Windows Vista systems without running Compatibility mode.

Open your preferred Web browser, and navigate to the Windows Media Player 10 download page (link available in Resources.)

Click the 'Continue' button from the download page.

Click the 'Continue' button to download the Genuine Windows Validation tool.

Locate the 'Genuine Windows Validation' tool once it has downloaded, and double-click it to run it. If you are prompted to confirm running the program, select 'OK.'

Copy and paste the provided validation code into the validation code text field by the program. The code will appear as soon as the program runs. Copy the code, or alternatively click the 'Copy to Clipboard' button to copy the code and paste it into the validation code field on the download page. Click 'Validate.'

Click the 'Download' button, and save the installation program to your computer.

Locate and double-click the installation program to begin installation. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Media Player 10.

Tip

Make sure your computer has at least a 233 megahertz processor, 64 megabytes of RAM and at least 100 gigabytes of free hard disk space before installing Windows Media Player 10.
